Description
Moving toward the Millionth Circle: Energizing the Global Woman’s Movement is a sequel to Dr. Bolen’s popular 1999 The Millionth Circle, with a slightly different focus. Her first book describes how real change happens when a critical number of people adopt a new perspective, with ways to create women’s circles with a sacred center. While still about women’s circles, this new book focuses more on activism and how these circles can sustain, support, and be a sanctuary for, women working for change in their lives and in the world. Hardback. ISBN 9781573241762.
Jean Shinoda Bolen, M. D., is a psychiatrist, Jungian analyst, and an internationally known author, activist, and speaker. She is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a past board member of the Ms. Foundation for Women. She has been an advocate for women, women’s issues, and ethics in psychiatry. Her books are used as college and university texts in gender studies, women’s psychology, mythology, spirituality, east-west philosophy, and psychology courses. She appeared in two documentaries, the Academy-Award winning anti-nuclear proliferation film Women—For America, For the World, and the Canadian Film Board’s Goddess Remembered.
The Millionth Circle Initiative was inspired by her book and led to her involvement at the U.N. She is the initiator and the leading advocate for a UN 5th World Conference on Women. She brings an emphasis on the question for meaning and the need for a spiritual dimension in life to all aspects of her work.
