Powerful Women Line-art Series
This series of women doing everyday things, like drinking coffee, enjoying their purple and pink hair or relaxing with cucumber slices on their eyes was created to celebrate just being a woman. Society judges us harshly. It is ingrained in us that we have to be perfect. No cellulite, no wrinkles, don’t laugh too loudly, or speak too softly.
We have to juggle so many things and make it seem easy, seamless, unattainable. We are taught to compete with one another, measure ourselves against the skinny, airbrushed model on the magazine cover and always come up short. We tell young girls that they must be “#bossbabes”, but our example shows them to compete with and resent each other.
My line drawings are scribbles of imperfection making up a whole beautiful image in the same way that we are sometimes messy and incompetent and we don’t always have it all together, but all of that scribbly mess that is our lives, connects and aligns and forms each one of us, perfectly imperfect goddesses.
